The Holly & Ivy event turns the mansion into a winter wonderland by inviting interior designers, home stagers, florists, and private individuals to decorate the main and second floors. This was our first year being involved with this event and we chose to decorate two rooms, The Library and Leif's Bedroom (one of the Week's 3 sons). Those who attended the event voted us as best decorated room for the Library!
Salisbury House is a grand mansion located in Des Moines Iowa that was built by the Weeks Family in 1923 and was their home from 1926-1954. The estate sits on nearly 10 acres and boasts 42 rooms. Many of the architectural details were salvaged from various historic and contemporary sites in England as well as many other sites. The nonprofit Salisbury House Foundation (SHF) was formed in 1993 and manages and maintains the home as a historic house museum.
